Link x Princess!Reader-Escaping Royalty part 7

Link was the first to awake the next morning. Lightly, he rubbed his eyes and started to sit up but instantly felt something weighing him down. Link then looked down to see what was on him and blushed slightly at the sight of you resting against him.Your arms were wrapped around his waist firmly while your head rested against his chest.

Not wishing to disturb you, Link laid back down and stared at the sky with one hand behind his head while his other subconsciously began to play with your hair. It wasn't until a good thirty minutes or so later that you finally began to wake.

You groaned a bit and opened your eyes slowly.

"Good morning."Link says,sitting up slightly.Your eyes instantly widen at how close the two of you were and blush creeps onto your cheeks.Immediately you let go of Link and jumped back.

"Oh!I-I'm sorry.."you say,looking away from him.Link chuckled a bit and sat up fully.

"Don't apologize __________.Besides,it was kinda cute."he says with a wink.Your face turns bright red and you remain silent,causing Link to laugh more and scoot closer to you."Hey ________,don't tell me you're falling for me.."You jump up and shake your head.

"What?N-No way!!"You say,waving your hands in sync with your head.LInk laughed and stood up,standing directly in front of you.He leaned forward a bit to the point where the two of you were just lips distance apart.

"Are you sure?"he asks in a whisper.You take a step back and instantly fall into the lake,causing Link to laugh his butt off.You quickly swim up and breach the surface of the lake,glaring at him.

"Not funny!"you say.Link held his stomach and wiped a tear from his eye.

"I think it was.I got you big time _______!"he says,kneeling down towards the edge of the platform.He offered his hand to you and you took it,letting him pull you out.You stand near him and turn around fast,slapping his cheek with your wet hair.

"Ow.That hurt ______."Link says,holding his cheek.

"Good you jerk!"you say,wringing it out.Link sighed and pouted a bit.

"Aw come on ______.I was just playing around!"he says.You cross your arms and huff,indicating that you weren't listening.Link sighed heavily and crossed his arms.

"Well..fine!Don't talk to the man who went out of his kind way to just to make your hopes and dreams come true!"he says,turing his back to you.You look over your shoulder at him and smirk.

"Oh shut up!"you say,shoving him with all your might into the lake.

"Whoa!Whoa!"Link yelped before falling into the chilling water.After a few seconds,he resurfaced,spitting out any water that seemed into his mouth.His dirty blonde bangs pressed against his face,covering his eyes.You pointed at him and laughed just as he did to you.

"Now that is funny!"you say.Link placed a wet hand on his forehead and pushed his bangs up from over his eyes to look at you.

"Okay..I guess I kinda deserved that."he says.You smirk at him and place your hands on your hips.

"You think?"you say,reaching down and offering your hand.Link smiled up at you and took it before yanking you down into the water.You swim to the surface and gasp for air.

"Dang it Link!"you say,splashing him.Link chuckled and splashed you back.

"What?I'd say we're even now."he says,with a smirk.You roll your eyes and swim to the platform climbing out.Link followed and climbed out as well.He wrung his hat out and sat down beside you.

You sit down and dangle your feet in the water.

"So..when are you gonna take me back?"you ask.Link stops wringing out his hat and looks at you.

"Whenever you're ready to go.."he says.You clench the grass tightly beneath your fists and bite down on your bottom lip a bit.

"But I don't want to go back.."you say.Link placed a hand on your shoulder.

"I know how you must feel _______,but you do still have family that's worried about you."he says.You turn to him.

"But what about you?You have three bounties on your head!You nearly died the other day!"you exclaim.Link stared at you for a moment,his expression softening.

"_______...are you..worried about me?"he asks.You blush slightly and look away.

"What?Of course not!I just..don't want to see you dead is all."you say.Link smiled and leaned back some,staring up at the sky.

"Well..thanks I guess.."he says."It's kinda nice to have somebody care about me every now and again.."You set your hands in your lap and fiddle with your dress.

"L-Link.."you mumble.

"Yes _________?"Link says.

"I..I have to tell you something."you say.Link nodded and stared at you.

"Alright,shoot.Tell me anything.."he says.

"Promise you won't be mad though!"Link's eyes widen a bit and his silly expression turned into one of worry.

"Okay..what's the matter _______?"he asks,placing a hand on yours.You inhale deeply and start.

"I...lied.."you say.Link raised an eyebrow.

"You lied?About what ________?"he asks.

"...W-who I am..I'm not really a Sheikah.."you say.Link's eyes widen.

"You're not?Then..what are you?This time tell me the truth.."he says.You bite your bottom lip and look at him.

"I'm..well...you see..."you stammer.

"You're what?Spit it out ______!"Link says,raising his voice slightly.

"I'm a princess!"you blurt out.Link stared at you,eyes wide for a moment,before suddenly jumping up.

"You're a princess?!!"he yells.You stand up and nod.

"Yes but..it's really not a bid deal."you say.

"Not a big deal?Not a big deal?Of course it's a big deal!!This isn't something that you just leave out of the conversation _______!"he says.Link ran his hands through his hair and paced around."Jeez!Do you know how bad this looks then!No wonder the guards were after you!Seeing me with you,they probably think I kidnapped you or something!"he shouts.

"Link please..i-it's not a big deal at all!"

"It's a huge deal _______!Let me guess,your sister this whole time was princess Zelda too,right?"he asks.You nod.

"Yes but-"

"Oh jeez!"Link placed his hands against his face and groaned."We have to get you back."he says.Your eyes widen.

"What?N-No way!I don't want to go back!"you say.

"Yeah well you haven't the choice Princess!You are suppose to be in the castle!Don't you know how dangerous it is for a princess to be out here alone?!"Link shouts.You feel tears start to swell up in your eyes.

"But you said that if I was with you,I had nothing to worry about.You said you'd protect me."you say.Link sighed.

"I know that ______ but this..this is out of the question!You need to go back!"he says.You ball your hands up into fists as tears begin to roll down your cheeks.

"I see...even you Link..you're just like them..You're just like those stupid guards and my stupid sister!You don't see me as the girl I am,you see me as something that needs to constantly be guarded well here's a news flash.I don't need guards,I don't need  Zelda and I don't need you!"you shout,storming away.

Link shook his head and followed you.

"Hey!Wait!Princess come back!!"he calls.You turn around to him and glare intently at Link.

"I told you not to call me that.Just leave me alone,if all you see me as is a princess then you're just like everyone else.I knew I couldn't trust you and to think,I actually thought you were different."you say,walking away."Don't follow me.As your Princess that's a direct order."

Link stood there,not knowing what to even say.He just watched as you walked away from him.He balled his fists up too and slung his shield&sword over his shoulders before walking quickly after you.

"Hey!Wait for me!"he says.

"Just go away!"you call.

"Oh come on ________.You can't blame me for being a little upset at the fact that you hid this major fact from me!"he calls after you.You stop walking,allowing Link to catch up to you before turning around to him.

"Link..stop following me.I..no longer want you around."you say.Link's eyes widen.

"______ how could you even say that?"he asks.

"Because..I'm no longer _______ in your eyes.Just a runaway princess.This whole journey was stupid.I should have never left the castle in the first place.We shouldn't have met."And with that you turned around and start walking away from Link.After a few minutes Link spoke up again.

"So that's it?You regret meeting me?Is that it?"he asks.You stop walking and stare at the ground.

"Yes."you say.Link's heart broke.He suddenly felt hollow inside,as if his sword was just torn out of his own chest.

"W-well. fine.If that's how you feel I guess the feeling is mutual."he says,turning his back to you."Princess or not,find your own way back to the castle.See if I care.You'd just be one less thing off my back!"he shouts."Good riddance!"

You sigh and continue walking,ignoring the tears that blurred your vision.

"Goodbye Link.."
