Link watched as Midna pushed the Darknut away from the two of them.The force caused it to skid back some.

"Link,get out of here."Midna says.

"What?But what about you?You can't take on a Darknut by yourself!"Link objects.

"I'm not giving you a choice!Besides,you're in my way."Midna smirks and looks back at Link."Don't worry,I can handle him."

Link pursed his lips a bit but before he could speak out,Thorn was already beside him,lifting him up.

"Come on."he says,throwing Link's arm over his neck and holding his waist.He started carrying him back towards the inn.

"Fine,be careful Midna!"Link said.Midna waved her hand at him.

"Yeah,yeah!"

Midna stood across from the Darknut,who seemed utterly confused at what it was suppose to do.Sensing his defender's confusion,Nicolei reappeared.

"Hmm,I see the game has changed.Well no matter.My dear Darknut.Here are your new orders!Kill anyone who stands between you and that blasted Link!He is who you will battle.Do not take your time with this one here."he ordered.

Midna glared up at Nicolei.

"So that's your game,huh?You plan on having a one on one battle with Link after this pile of scrap metal weakens him."Midna scowled.Nicolei chuckled.

"Not quiet my dear!I'm not using the Darknut to weaken him.It's to make him stronger!That way,our fight will be most entertaining for me!"Nicolei sneered.

"And how exactly is slicing Link up with this pile of junk gonna make him stronger?!"Midna snapped.Nicolei shrugged.

"I would never expect a woman to understand a man's concept of strength!Darknut!Get rid of her now!"Nicolei ordered.The Darknut nodded and charged at Midna,swinging it's sword at her.

"Whoa!"Midna jumped back a bit as the Darknut's heavy sword crashed at her feet.As the Darknut lifted it's sword again,Midna quickly ran around behind it before shooting a Twili energy ball at it's back.The Darknut's armor cracked a bit as it flew forward from the force a bit.

"Come on!Get her!"Nicolei fussed at his knight.The Darknut growled lowly and slammed it's sword against the dusty ground before spinning around at high speeds.Midna gasped and extended her arms outward to allow her Twili shield to protect her as the Darknut's sword clashed repeatedly against it.

After a while of nonstop clashing,the Darknut jumped up and thrust it's sword downward into the shield,instantly shattering it and grazing Midna's leg.Midna gasped and slid back a bit.

Midna looked down at her leg,seeing blood drip from her cut down her leg but it was nothing serious from what she could tell.The Darknut turned around to Midna and began walking towards her while swing it's sword.

Midna backed away while the sword slashed her repeatedly,giving her shallow lacerations all over her body.Nicolei watched in awe as Midna tripped and fell before the mighty Darknut.

"Yes!Finish her!!"he called.The Darknut nodded and held it's sword high above Midna.The Darknut quickly thrusts it's sword downward at Midna.All Midna saw was a flash of dark energy flash in front of her before blood stained the ground and her as well.Nicolei gasped at the sight of who his Darknut's sword pierced.It was not Midna,but Thorn.

Thorn stood in front of Midna breathing heavily as the Darknut's sword pierced his abdominal cavity.

"Y-You?!"Midna gasps.Thorn looks over his shoulder at Midna,despite the situation,he managed to smile softly at her.

"A-Are you alright?"he asks.The Darknut pulled it's sword out of Thorn's abdomen allowing him to collapse back onto Midna.

"Why?Why did you do that?You fool!"Midna cried as she held Thorn tightly.Thorn coughed up a bit of blood before shrugging.

"I..couldn't let you get hurt.."he says softly.

"Well you should've!Didn't anyone ever tell you it's every man for himself!"Midna fussed.Thorn looked up at her and light brushed away the stray tears she hadn't realized she had been crying.

"That may be how you work..but not me.."he mumbles.Midna pressed her hand over Thorn's that covered up his bleeding wound and rested her cheek on the top of his head.

"You're an idiot!You should have butt out."she sobbed.

"No,I couldn't..Not when a beautiful princess is in danger.."Midna blushed a bit and buried her face in Thorn's hair to muffle out her sobs.

"You really are a fool.."

Nicolei watched Thorn and Midna as she clung to his body tightly.He felt he was at a loss for words.Why would his brother do such a thing?To warp in front of a blade just to protect that woman.It didn't make any sense.And now,he may die because of a silly choice.It was..out most..

"Pathetic.."Nicolei mumbled out.Midna's head shot up as Nicolei stood in front of her."How pathetic my brother would throw away his life for someone like yourself."He scowled.

Midna glared at him.

"How could you talk about him that way?!If he is your brother how could you?!You would never understand what it means to care-"

"Care?Please!This isn't caring!This is weakness!He thinks his soul will be spared from all it's sins and burdens if he throws it all away for a woman like you!It's selfishness!"Nicolei shouted.

"You're wrong!Thorn is nothing like you!"

"And how would you know princess?You just met him did you not?So don't sit there and tell me that you know more about Thorn than I do because you don't.Funny though,no matter what,you and Link always manage to bring pain and suffering to the ones you care about.Well maybe you should just stop because obviously caring isn't your thing!"Nicolei shouted.

"Just go away!You're the one who doesn't understand."Midna growled.Nicolei glared at her then down at Thorn's body.

"Fine.Tell Link to come to me when he is ready.When both of you are no longer cowards."he says,turning away."Oh..but before I go.."Nicolei snapped his fingers and Thorn's body began to disappear.

"What?"Midna gasped.Nicolei turned around to her to show Thorn being held in his brother's arms.

"I'll be taking my brother back.."he says.Midna shook her head and stood up.

"No!Give him back!"she yelled,running towards Nicolei but the Darknut grabbed her and held her back.Midna could only watch in tears as Thorn is taken through a portal in Nicolei's arms.Shortly after the Darknut disappeared and Midna fell to her knees.

"Give him back..Thorn..You fool.."she sobbed quietly.

"Midna.."Link said behind her.Midna looked over at Link as he approached her and knelt beside her.

"We'll get him back."he says,wiping away her tears.Midna sniffled and latched onto Link,crying into his strong chest.

"Why did he do it Link?"she choked out.Link held Midna tightly and placed a gentle hand on the back of her head,stroking her hair.

"Because...Thorn cares about you Midna.."Was the only answer Link gave her.Midna sniffled and wiped her tears away.

"Then Thorn..really is a fool.."
