"Hey..Hey ______! You in there?"

"W-what?" You blink your eyes, blinking away the memory that had clustered in your mind. You look over at Armin who was nudging  you back to your senses. "What is it Armin?"you ask the blond before you.

"Here..I brought you this."he replied, holding up a small loaf of bread to you. You look down at it then back at him. You had to look down at him since you were sitting atop of a handrail of the deck the two of you were upon. 

"Did you eat?" you ask. Armin frowned slightly and looked to the side, his thick golden locks covering those sky blue eyes of his.

"I'm not hungry..I want you to have my share."he muttered quietly. You shook your head.

"Eat it Armin..it's yours. I'll scrounge up something later-"

"No Eat it!"Armin suddenly shouted, looking back at you with stern eyes. "Eat it now ________. You need to..I can tell you haven't eaten well lately...It's my fault..so please..just take it.." You stare at Armin, noticing that Eren and Mikasa were as well though Eren was currently getting bread shoved into his mouth by Mikasa. She also looked over at you and nodded slowly as if saying 'take it ______. For him, just eat.'

Seeing that, you sighed and took the bread from Armin's hands gently. A soft smile slowly formed across his lips  until you tore the bread in half.

"______ what are you-"

"I'm not eating it..unless you do too.."you tell him, shoving the other half back into his hands. The boy stared down at the piece of bread before looking back up at you. Sighing, he nodded and began to eat the bread slowly. You followed his example and slowly devoured the bread. Armin sighed in contentment and walked closer, resting his arms on the rail beside your legs.

"_______...about earlier..."He began, causing you to tense. Here it comes, the questions and possible fear once he finds out what you truly are.

"Armin I-"

"I don't care ______.."He cut you off, looking up at you. "I always knew you were strong, crazy strong and seeing it in action...it just confirms it. But listen..I could tell by your expression that there's something you aren't telling me..and honestly..thats fine..."He told you. Wait..what? It was..fine? "You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to...I thought on it over night and...I decided that if you don't wanna tell me now whats up, thats fine..But in the future..I hope one day you'll trust me enough to open up to me..I'll always be there for you..alright?"

"Armin..."You stare at the boy, unsure of what to say. You frown and look down at your feet. "Thanks..."

Days after that, many refugees that were old enough to serve the military were sent out onto the frontline along with the regiment to take back wall Maria. Of the thousands of people sent out, not even a hundred of them made it back. It was basically a slaughter for refugees and made no improvement in the battle against the titans. However, the many deaths did help with the famine that was steadily growing. Among those brave people, was Armin's very own grandfather.

You rubbed Armin's back gently as he sobbed quietly, clutching the straw hat he held that once belonged to his grandfather. Eren just leaned against the brick wall of the building behind him, arms crossed and gaze averted downwards.

"So..I've been dong some thinking..and..I'm gonna sign up for the cadets next year..I want to be strong enough to fight back..and drive those titans out.."the brunette growls. Mikasa sighs and Armin looks up at him then at his feet.

"I'm joining too."he says.

"What? Armin you don't have to-"
